Carol A. Gould served as executive director of Great Plains Interactive Distance Education Alliance (Great Plains IDEA) from July 2009 to December 2017. For her leadership, the Great Plains IDEA cabinet presented Gould a distinguished service award in March 2015 at the consortium’s annual meeting.
Gould’s responsibilities with Great Plains IDEA included implementing alliance policies, coordinating workings of the alliance cabinet, coordinating workings of the human sciences board and AG IDEA board, overseeing alliance finances, managing lead institution operations, and coordinating the alliance human sciences programs. Kansas State University is the lead institution of the 19 member institutions in the alliance.
Among Gould’s other work experiences are director of public relations for the City of Junction City from 2005 to 2008, director of the Kansas Center for Rural Initiatives and co-director of the Kansas Center for Community Economic Development at Kansas State University from 1993 – 2005. She was program director of the community service program at Kansas State University from 1987-2005
In 2006, she received the Michael C. Holen Outstanding Leadership Award from the Staley School of Leadership Studies. In 2007, she received the Be the Change Award, Volunteer of the Year Campaign for Non Violence, at Kansas State University.
Gould received an M.A. in Political Science from Kansas State University. Her B.A. in Microbiology is from the University of Missouri.
